EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ High school sophomores in Findlay and Hancock County can apply for the 2026-27 Hancock Youth Leadership (HYL) program by Feb. 27. Selected students will join nine full-day sessions starting Fall 2026 to build leadership, communication, and community skills. WFIN
- ➤ The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will host its WinterREAD reading program starting January 5, inviting all ages to log reading and win prizes online + with paper forms available at the library; the program runs through January 31. WFIN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio State Highway Patrol urges drivers to stay alert with increased checks for impaired driving, speeding and seatbelt use from midnight today until 11:59 p.m. December 28 (Governor DeWine emphasized safety for the holidays). WFIN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Precia Stuby, the longest-serving director at Hancock County ADAMHS, announced her retirement effective March 6. She led the department for 28 years and secured nearly $20 million in funding to expand mental health and addiction services. WFIN
- ➤ Emma Shick, RN was honored with the December DAISY Award by Blanchard Valley Health System for her compassionate care in the ICU (she helped a family make hard decisions). The patient’s family nominated her for her clear and kind support during a difficult time. WFIN
